PHILADELPHIA – The La Salle baseball team motored past the George Mason Patriots 10-1 on Friday afternoon at Hank DeVincent Field in the opener of a three-game series.
Joey Ravert finished 3-for-4 with a homer and four RBI's while
Josh Savakinus added three RBI's with a two-run homer and a bases-loaded walk.
The two-run shot from Savakinus gave the home team a 2-0 lead in the 2
nd as La Salle starter
Jordan Meyer (W, 3-3) tossed five shutout innings before surrendering a sac fly in the 6
th. The righty limited the Patriots to four hits and a walk while striking out five in six innings.
Prior to Mason's sac fly in the 6
th, the Explorers extended the lead to 4-0 in the 5
th on a two-run double to right center off the bat of Ravert.
Collin McGowan extended the lead back to four runs with an RBI single in the bottom of the 6
th.

Tom Fazzini tossed two scoreless frames in relief as La Salle continued to pour on the offense, scoring three in the 7
th and two more in the 8
th.
Ethan Springston followed Savakinus' RBI walk with a two-run single before Ravert drilled a two-run homer in the 8
th.
Greg Krug closed the game out with a scoreless 9
th inning.
The Explorers are back in action for game two of the series on Saturday afternoon at Hank DeVincent Field at 1 p.m.
