PHILADELPHIA – Ryan Welling was named Big 5 Student-Athlete of the Year while Josh Savakinus, Justin Korenblatt, Cameron Johnson, Joey Ravert and Luke Reilly earned All-Big 5 honors, it was announced today.
 
Welling earns Student-Athlete of the Year after securing Academic All-District and Academic All-Atlantic 10 honors last month. The redshirt senior amassed a 3.83 GPA in accounting & finance as an undergraduate and has a 3.73 GPA in La Salle's MBA program.
 
The Baltimore, Md. native set career highs in every statistical category this season, including finishing with the third most doubles (19) in a single season at La Salle. Welling hit .313 with four homers and 39 RBI's.
 
Savakinus got the nod at third base after leading the A-10 and tying the school record with 23 doubles this season. The senior hit .300 (60-for-200) with a .571 slugging percentage, and finished with the fifth most RBI's (48) in the A-10.
 
Korenblatt earned All-Big 5 distinction in the outfield for the third straight season after leading the league with a .497 on-base percentage and hitting .387 through 36 games before an injury ended his season in April.  
 
Johnson earned a spot in the outfield after tying for the team lead and finishing second in the Big 5 with 48 RBI's. The senior hit .327 and paced team in hits with 72, which are the eighth most in a season at La Salle.
 
Ravert was selected as the DH after leading the Atlantic 10 with a .676 slugging percentage and finishing third in the A-10 with 11 homeruns as a junior. The Havertown, Pa. native finished the season hitting .338 with 13 doubles and 44 RBI's.
 
Reilly led the Big 5 with six wins, and finished 4-0 in A-10 games. The lefty had 36 strikeouts versus five walks in A-10 play and won his final three starts to aid La Salle's playoff push.
