LEWISBURG, Pa. – The La Salle men's soccer team fell 4-2 to the Bucknell Bison in the 2015 season opener on Friday night at Emmitt Field.
After Bucknell took a 1-0 lead in the 3
rd minute on a Sebastiaan Blickman goal, La Salle's
Andrew Connors tied the game at 1-1 with a goal off a free kick in the 29
th minute.
Joe Farrell headed a
Tony Daniele free kick to just outside the box, where Connors corralled the ball and deposited it inside the far post.
With a 1-1 tie heading into the second half, the Bison scored three unanswered goals to sway the momentum in their favor. The Bison outshot La Salle 13-6 in the second half, and 22-10 for the game.
Daniele added a goal in the 77
th minute to cut the deficit to 4-2, deflecting a free kick off a defender just outside the box for the score. Freshman
Hayden Criollo sailed a shot wide of the net in the 83
rd minute and
Greg Henry took a corner kick in the 89
th minute but the Explorers were unable to find the net again.
The Explorers host Loyola (Md.) at 7 p.m. on Monday night at McCarthy Stadium for their home opener.
