PHILADELPHIA  – The La Salle field hockey team opens the Atlantic 10 schedule on Friday when it visits Davidson at 5:30 PM. The Explorers then travel to Appalachian State on Sunday. 

Scouting the Explorers:
- La Salle dropped a 3-2 contest to Rider on Sunday. After falling behind 3-0, the Explorers received goals from freshman Megan Kida and junior Devin Muracco but could not score the equalizer.
- Muracco and Gina Smith are tied for the team lead with two goals each.
- Smith ranks fourth in the A-10 in points per game (1.67).
- Kendall Kreider is tied for fifth in the league in assists with two.
- Goalkeeper Rachel Hartman ranks second in saves per game (6.00) in the A-10.

Scouting the Wildcats:
- Seven different Wildcats have found the back of the cage with senior Melissa Funsten leading the way with four goals. Anna Davis's six points with two scores and two assist is good for second on the squad.
- Davidson beat Vermont, 8-1, and lost at Michigan, 4-1, last weekend.
- The Wildcats went 3-16 last season and 2-6 in the Atlantic 10.
- Hannah Fisher was named to the preseason all-conference team after being named to the A-10 All-Rookie Team last year.

Scouting the Moutnaineers:
- Appalachian State has dropped four straight games after beating Missouri State, 6-4, on August 30. 
- After six games on the road, ASU returns home this weekend with James Madison on Friday and La Salle on Sunday.
- Caroline Phillips leads the team with four goals and two assists for 10 points, while Taylor Cimbalist has a team-high six assists.
- The Mountaineers have allowed 26 goals in six games.

La Salle is back at home on Friday for the first time in 19 days when it hosts Lock Haven at 3 PM.
