PHILADELPHIA- The La Salle volleyball team fell 3-0 (12-25, 19-25, 13-25) to Dayton on Saturday night at Tom Gola Arena. Sophomore
Bryanna Davis tied for a game-high with ten kills on the evening.
La Salle came out and was able to fight with the defending conference champion Flyers early in set one as things were tied at 6-6 in the early going. Davis had three kills in the first six points for the Explorers. However, Dayton was able to pull away late in the set and take it 25-12. Davis finished the set with six kills on just seven swings.
The Explorers came out and battled back after digging an early hole in set two. La Salle was down by as many as 11 early in the first set, but was able to climb back and cut the lead to just five towards the end of the set. The Explorers went on a 6-2 run to cut the lead to just 24-19. Ultimately Dayton was able to close out the set 25-19. Davis again led the way with three kills while sophomore
Hannah McGary and freshman
Madison Kuch added two each in the frame.
The visiting Flyers were able to close out the sweep with a 25-13 set three win. Kuch added four kills in the fourth frame, while junior
Ashley Felton had three of her own on just five swings to hit .400 in the set.
Freshman Taylor Htie added 21 assists and two kills on the evening while freshman
Jensen Sharrits provided a game-high 12 digs.
La Salle hits the road for the first time in conference play next weekend as they head to Duquesne for a 4 p.m. first serve on Saturday.
