PHILADELPHIA - The La Salle women's basketball team couldn't overcome a strong start to the second half for Dayton as the Explorers fell to the Flyers 67-51 on Wednesday night in Tom Gola Arena.
The Flyers opened the 3rd quarter on a 12-2 run to push their lead to 42-28 with 3:56 remaining in the quarter after taking a four-point lead into halftime. Dayton held the Explorers scoreless for the first 4:56 in the second half until
Deja Bullock hit a layup after pulling down an offensive rebound.
The Bullock layup preceded a 10-2 run for La Salle, cutting Dayton's lead to six points with 2:01 left in the quarter. The Flyers, however, scored the game's next six points to push the lead back to double digits for the duration.
Bullock finished with a team-high seven rebounds while
Amy Griffin finished with a team-high 19 points, six rebounds and four assists.
Adreana Miller was the other Explorer in double figures, going for 11 points and a career-high four assists.
Lauren Cannatelli had a game-high 20 points for the Flyers, going 6-for-9 from the field and 4-for-5 from the foul line. The freshman hit 4-of-7 attempts from beyond the arc while Saicha Grant-Allen and Jodie Cornelie-Sigmundova combined for 28 points for UD.
The Explorers embark on their shortest road trip of the season on Saturday as they visit crosstown rival Saint Joseph's for a 2 p.m. tip from Hagan Arena.
