RICHMOND, Va. - The La Salle Men's Soccer Team (6-6, 1-2 A-10) dropped its second Atlantic 10 game Wednesday under the lights at Virginia Commonwealth (4-5-3, 2-0-1 A-10). The Rams broke the scoreless tie early in the second half and then sealed the deal with a late goal to put the game out of reach. A much tougher opponent than their record suggests, VCU grinded through one of the grittiest non-conference schedules in the nation that included multiple opponents ranked in the top 25.
The Rams displayed stellar defense and held La Salle, the second-highest scoring team in the Atlantic 10, to just four shots.
Colman Kennedy, the Explorers' leading scorer, registered the team's only shot on goal.
In net,
Mike Kirk kept the team alive with two saves in the first half.
La Salle will return home this weekend to host Fordham at 1:00 PM at McCarthy Stadium.
