APALACHIN, N.Y. - La Salle sophomore
Andrew Reynolds shot a three-under 69 to pace the men's golf team at a low-scoring round one at the Binghamton Invitational at the Links at Hiawatha Landing. Reynolds is tied for 11th in the 87-player field.
"There were a lot of low scores today and it paid to be aggressive," head coach
Brad Kane said. "Andrew had a great round and Brandon's finish was amazing. We'll be firing at every flag tomorrow and trying to go even lower."
As a team, La Salle shot 289 (+1) which is the sixth best 18-hole score in program history. Unfortunately, it was only good for a tie for ninth as many of the teams shot extremely low scores, with the top eight teams posting under-par scores.Â
Freshman
Evan Gaesser shot an even par 72. He made par on all 18 holes and is tied for 27th. Junior
Brandon Raihl tied his career-low with a one-over 73 and tied for 37th.
Senior
P.J. Acierno carded an 75 (+3) and is tied for 52nd, while sophomore
Nick Gruber carded a 77 (+5) and is tied for 70th.
Drexel leads the 16-team field with a 277 (-11). Binghamton (-9), Towson (-9), Lafayette (-6) and Delaware (-4) round out the top five. Adam Mistretta of Drexel leads the field with his seven-under 65.
Play concludes tomorrow at 8:30 AM.Â
