VILLANOVA – The Men's Swimming and Diving team started its season with a splash in its second event this weekend as they secured the top spot in seven out of 16 events on Saturday in a tri-meet with Drexel and Villanova. The men topped Villanova 181-118 and fell just shy against Drexel, 154.5-145.5.
Mattias Glenesk secured a first place finish in the 1000 free, clocking in at 9:48.83, nearly three seconds faster than second place. His teammate,
Dimitrije Mladenovic finished first in the 100 breast (58.06). Diver
Dylan Yurasits swept the diving events, finishing first in the one meter at 268.75 and in the three meter at 247.40.
Fabian Bergman took the top spot in the 100 breast (1:50.69). Finally,
Jakub Bartosiewicz touched the wall at 1:53.61 in the 200 fly for first place and also topped the leaderboard in 100 fly at 50.50.
The men's 200 medley relay gathered four points with a second place finish, as the four (
Fabian Bergman, Mladenovic,
Cameron Fadley, and Norman Gregory) touched the wall in 1:35.05. Sam Odtallah came in second in the 50 free (21.65 seconds).
Aleksandar Nikolic fell just a few hundredths of a second short of first in the 100 free (47.91).
Marcus Forsgren put two points on the board in the 200 free, finishing in 1:45.50.
Christoff Ras took second in the 200 breast (2:10.95).
The men's team is back in action in an A-10 quad meet next Saturday.
