Men's Swimming and Diving | October 30, 2016
GENEVA, Ohio - The Men's Swimming and Diving team continued its hot start to the season with two wins over A-10 opponents St. Bonaventure and Saint Louis.
Head Coach
Jamie Platt was impressed with the performance, saying after the meet, "It was a great opportunity to compete at our championship pool. We need to use it as an early season rehearsal for A-10's. We had a lot of strong performances and, as expected at this time of the year, some that need to be worked on."
The team dominated the relays over the weekend. The 200 free relay team started the day with a win as Sam Odtallah, Norman Gregory,
Marcus Forsgren, and
Cameron Fadley clocked in at 1:26.55. Odtallah and Forsgren also finished one-two in the 50 free later in the day, finishing in 21.57 seconds and 21.72 seconds respectively. The men also topped the leader board in the 400 medley relay as
Fabian Bergman, Dimitrije Mladenovic, Jakub Bartosiewicz, and Aleksandar Nikolic finished two seconds ahead of second place at 3:26.61. The former three plus Odtallah later came in first in the 200 medley relay (1:34.03). Finally, Nikolic, Gregory, Odtallah, and Bergman won the 400 free relay (3:08.02).
Mladenovic and Bergman had outstanding days as Mladenovic also finished first in the 100 breast (57.93) and Bergman came in first in the 100 back (51.86) and 200 back (1:51.79).
In the long distance,
Mattias Glenesk placed first in the 1650 free (16:17.75).
Dylan Yurasits swept the diving competitions, scoring 312.60 in the 1 meter and a clean 300 in the 3 meter.
Platt's team has some time to rest as the men don't compete again until a tri-meet with Delaware and Rider on November 12.
