Women’s Soccer Hosts George Washington and Saint Joseph’s this Weekend

PHILADELPHIA - The La Salle women's soccer team welcomes conference foes George Washington and Saint Joseph's to McCarthy Stadium this week. The Explores host the Colonials on Thursday night and the Hawks on Sunday afternoon.
 
Scouting the Explorers
-La Salle went 1-0-1 last week to open up A-10 play, defeating UMass 1-0 in double overtime in Thursday's opener before battling to a scoreless draw at Davidson on Sunday.
 
-Larissa Zambelli was named the A-10 Co-Defensive Player of the Week on Monday for the two shutouts. The redshirt junior made eight saves to keep opponents out of the net for a combined 216:24 in the double overtime contests.
 
-Maci Bower netted the game-winner in the 107th minute against the Minutewomen to lift La Salle to the win. The sophomore leads the team with three goals this season.
 
-Deja Davis tallied an assist on Bower's game-winner to tie Kristin Haugstad for the team lead in assists (three). The senior leads La Salle in total points with seven.

Scouting the Colonials

-GW is coming off a big home win against St. Bonaventure on Sunday, defeating the Bonnies 3-0. 
 
-After starting the season 6-0, the Colonials dropped four straight before toppling SBU. 
 
-Senior MacKenzie Cowley is tied for second in the A-10 with seven goals.That goal output alone puts her seventh in the league in points.

-The Colonials have allowed just nine goals this season, tied with Duquesne for the fewest among conference teams.

Scouting the Hawks

-Saint Joseph's defeated GW 2-1 at home last week before tying Fordham 1-1 in the Bronx on Sunday.
 
-Sophomore Dakota Mills is tied for second in the Atlantic 10 with seven goals this season, and tied for fourth in the league with 15 points.

-Saint Joseph's was ranked fifth in the National Soccer Coaches Association of America Mid-Atlantic Poll on Tuesday.
 
-The Hawks are in the midst of a three-game road swing. After a 1-1 tie at Fordham on Sunday, SJU will visit Rhode Island on Thursday before coming to McCarthy Stadium.
 
-SJU has gone to overtime in five of their 11 games, and have yet to give up a goal in extra time on the way to a 3-0-2 record.
 
-La Salle defeated the Hawks twice last season, including a 2-1 defeat in the opening round of the 2015 A-10 Championship.
