PHILADELPHIA – The La Salle women's soccer team tied the George Washington Colonials 1-1 on Thursday evening at McCarthy Stadium.
After a scoreless first half, La Salle's
Danielle Marx gave the Explorers a 1-0 edge in the 69
th minute with her second goal of the year. The redshirt junior intercepted a clear just outside the box and sent it top shelf past the dive of GW keeper Miranda Horn.
The Colonials, however, tied the game in the 83
rd minute as MacKenzie Cowley bounced a shot over the head of La Salle keeper
Larisa Zambelli.
The Explorers outshot GW 13-8 on the night although both teams put five shots on target. La Salle controlled corner kicks 9-6.
The Explorers are home again on Sunday as they host crosstown rival Saint Joseph's at McCarthy Stadium at 1 p.m.
