VILLANOVA, Pa. – The La Salle women's basketball team lost a hard-fought Big 5 matchup 52-49 to the Villanova Wildcats on Wednesday night at The Pavilion.
Amy Griffin had a team-high 16 points and four rebounds while
Adreana Miller finished with 10 points.
Jasmine Alston chipped in eight points, six rebounds and six assists.
The two teams exchanged leads throughout the game, but the Wildcats took the lead for good midway through the 4
th quarter. La Salle led 40-38 following a jumper from Griffin with 8:53 left in the game before the Wildcats scored six straight to go in front 44-40.
Griffin hit a pair of free throws with 5:36 remaining to cut Villanova's lead to 44-42 but the Wildcats went 6-for-6 from the foul line over the final 3:31 to seal the victory. Adrianna Hahn led all scorers with 20 points while Alex Louin added 13.
La Salle begins conference play early this season as they visit Dayton on Sunday for their A-10 opener. The Explorers will then resume non-conference play until a January 1st meeting at VCU.
