PHILADELPHIA - Head Coach
Rob Irvine's team found itself in control on a beautiful fall day at McCarthy Stadium. The Explorers (10-7-1, 5-3 A-10) wrapped up their regular season with a 1-0 win over UMass on Saturday after
Matt Robinson's first half goal put them in front.
With the win, La Salle jumps over UMass in the standings, but the Blue and Gold's first round playoff opponent won't be clear until later tonight as ten Atlantic 10 teams are still in action today.
Robinson found the back of the net among the chaos in front after a
Zach Rutherford throw-in. Just seconds later,
Conor Nichols narrowly missed an opportunity to make it 2-0 with a shot off the post. Nichols was a big part of the offense, finishing with a team-high five shots (three on goal).
Senior
Mike Kirk registered his 15th career shutout in his final regular season game. Kirk was composed throughout the match and made six stops.
The La Salle offense looked poised throughout the game, putting up 21 shots (10 on goal).Â
The Explorers will wait to see who they face in the first round of the Atlantic 10 Tournament on Thursday in Davidson, North Carolina.Â
