Men's Swimming and Diving | December 4, 2016
LEWISBURG, Pa. - The La Salle Men's Swimming & Diving team placed second out of eight teams in the Bucknell Invitational after wrapping up the three-day event on Sunday. The men scored 1,049 points in the process, almost doubling their score from a year ago.
"The Bucknell Invite gave the men and the women an excellent opportunity to compete in a prelim/final format," said Head Coach
Jamie Platt. "Both teams made the most of this opportunity. Leading into our semester break and heavy training, we now know where we are and what we need to obtain our goals."
The Explorers placed two among the top eight in the 200 back as
Fabian Bergman raced a 1:48.54 for second place and senior
Jerry Gravel clocked in at 1:51.36 for eighth place.Â
A trio of La Salle swimmers filled the leaderboard in the 100 free as
Marcus Forsgren (46.01),
Norm Gregory (46.12), and Sam Odtallah (46.39)Â placed fourth, fifth, and sixth respectively.Â
In the 200 breast, Dimitrije Mladenovic took third with a final time of 2:03.82. A couple spots behind him, teammate
Christoff Ras finished in 2:05.44 for fifth place.
Junior
Jakub Bartosiewicz gathered 25 points for La Salle with a 1:51.72 finish in the 200 fly for fifth place.
In the 400 free relay, a team of Gregory, Odtallah,
Cameron Fadley, and Forsgren took fourth place, clocking in at 3:03.89.
Senior
Mattias Glenesk placed seventh in the 1650 free at 15:46.22.Â
The Men's team now has a month and a half hiatus before returning to action on January 16 when it hosts George Mason at Kirk Pool at 12:00 PM.
