La Salle Grounds Hawks, 75-70, Behind Career-High 33 Points from Griffin

PHILADELPHIA - The La Salle women's basketball team held off a Saint Joseph's comeback to defeat the Hawks 75-70 behind a career-high 33 points from Amy Griffin on Wednesday afternoon at Tom Gola Arena.

Griffin scored seven points in the final 42 seconds to help the Explorers seal the victory and eclipse her previous career-high of 31 points (Dec. 30 at Monmouth). The sophomore was a perfect 5-for-5 from the foul line in the final minute, and finished 9-for-11 from the line and 12-for-23 from the floor on the day.

Although SJU used runs to make it a one-possession game twice during the final quarter, the Explorers never trailed in the contest. La Salle captured the lead for good on an Adreana Miller jumper with 3:58 remaining in the first half.

Jasmine Alston filled the stat sheet with 10 points, eight rebounds and eight assists to narrowly miss her sixth double-double of the year. Micahya Owens and Adreana Miller also finished in double figures for the Explorers, going for 11 and 10 points, respectively.

Lisa Mintzer recorded career-highs in rebounds (nine) and blocks (five) while adding five points. The junior's nine rebounds were a game-high.

The Explorers host St. Bonaventure on Saturday afternoon in their final home game of the season. La Salle will recognize redshirt senior Ebony Wells with a pregame ceremony as part of Senior Day.
