PHILADELPHIA - The La Salle women's basketball team fell to the St. Bonaventure Bonnies 70-63 in Atlantic 10 action on Saturday afternoon at Tom Gola Arena.
Micahya Owens poured in 24 points to tie her career-high, going 9-for-16 from the floor and 2-for-2 from the foul line. The junior was an impressive 4-for-5 from three-point range.
St. Bonaventure led by nine after a pair of Miranda Drummond free throws with 3:29 left in the game before the Explorers sparked an 11-5 run to make it a one-possession game.
Adreana Miller capped the run with a three-pointer with 1:58 remaining.
The Bonnies drew a foul on their next trip down the floor and hit both free throws to extend the lead back to five. The Explorers couldn't score on their ensuing possession before St. Bonaventure's Katie Healy hit a layup with 35 seconds left to seal the game.
Amy Griffin and Miller finished in double figures for the Explorers, netting 13 and 12 points, respectively. Griffin did most of her work from the free throw line, going 7-for-10 from the stripe while Miller connected on 4-of-5 attempts from beyond the arc.
Jasmine Alston had a game-high nine assists to go with six rebounds and two points while
Ashanti Freeland pulled down a game-high eight rebounds and had four points. Senior
Ebony Wells grabbed five rebounds in her final game in Tom Gola Arena.
Wells was recognized for her contributions to the program in a pregame Senior Day ceremony. The Explorers play their final two regular season games on the road, beginning with an in-state battle at Duquesne on Wednesday night at the A.J. Palumbo Center.
