JOHNSON CITY, Tenn. – The La Salle baseball team defeated East Tennessee State 9-4 in the second game of a doubleheader on Saturday at Thomas Stadium to earn a series win over the Bucs after falling 6-3 in Saturday's first game.

With the score tied 2-2 after four innings, the Explorers broke the game open with five runs in the 5th inning.

La Salle loaded the bases with one out in the 5th and an Ethan Springston grounder plated Travis George to get the scoring started. Drew Jarmuz was hit by a pitch to force in a run before Chase Arnold cleared the bases with a double to make it 7-2.

George hit a solo homer in the 6th before Arnold added a sacrifice fly in the 7th to stretch the lead to 9-2. Arnold finished 1-for-2 with four RBI while Drew Jarmuz scored four runs after going 1-for-1 with an RBI and two walks.

Jordan Meyer (W, 1-1) tossed 3.2 innings in relief of Jared Mattera, yielding two earned runs on two hits and a walk while striking out two.

GAME ONE
ETSU scored four runs in the bottom of the 8th to erase a 3-2 La Salle lead and even the series at 1-1. Jorge Jimenez (L, 1-4) issued two hits and a walk to start the 8th, and was charged for three runs before being lifted in favor of James Santore.

The Explorers had the winning run at the plate in the 9th, loading the bases with one out before Kevin McGowan bounced into a double play to end the game.

Joey Ravert had given the Explorers a 3-2 lead in the top of the 8th inning with a solo homer after Collin McGowan scored on an error to tie the game at 2-2 in the 7th.

McGowan got the Explorers going in the 2nd inning with a sacrifice fly to center to score Chase Arnold, who reached with a one-out single up the middle. The Bucs responded with two runs against righty Greg Paprocki in the home half of the 2nd to take a 2-1 lead.
