PHILADELPHIA –
Travis George singled with the bases loaded in the bottom of the 7th to lift the Explorers to a 1-0 win in the second game of a doubleheader with Saint Peter's after the Peacocks took the first game 7-3.
GAME TWO Jordan Meyer was masterful on the mound for the Blue and Gold, limiting Saint Peter's to a pair of hits while striking out six in the seven-inning complete-game effort. The Peacocks weren't able to move a runner past second base.
With the bases loaded and one out in the 7th,
Travis George singled through the right side to lift the Explorers to the win in walk-off fashion. The victory gave La Salle two wins in three Big 5 Baseball Bash games after defeating Canisius 4-3 on Friday.
Joey Ravert started setting the table for George with a walk to start the 7th and moved to second on an
Ethan Springston sacrifice bunt.
Chase Arnold's single to center moved Ravert to third and triggered an intentional walk of
Drew Jarmuz.
GAME ONESaint Peter's took a 2-0 lead in the top of the 1st on a Rob Moore two-run double against La Salle starter
Jared Mattera (L, 0-1). The righty was charged with five runs (three earned) over five innings of work.
La Salle cut the SPU lead to 2-1 in the 2nd with an Arnold RBI single to center but the Peacocks scored in each of the next four innings to push their lead to 6-1 by the 6th inning.
The Explorers fought back with two runs in the 7th to make it a three-run game but couldn't get any closer before Jon Kristoffersen homered in the 9th to put the Peacocks in front 7-3.
Sunday's scheduled game against Sacred Heart has been cancelled due to impending inclement weather. The Explorers play a pair of midweek games this week, visiting Delaware on Tuesday before hosting Delaware State on Wednesday.
