NEW BRITAIN, Ct.- The La Salle women's lacrosse team grabbed a 8-6 win on the road at Central Connecticut State on Sunday afternoon. Senior
Katelyn Fay and junior Allee Ilgenftitz both had four goals to fuel the Explorers offense.
Despite the hosts jumping out to a 1-0 lead in the first minute of action, the Explorers had a strong first half as they grabbed a 4-1 lead from which they wouldn't look back. Fay and junior Allee ilgenfritz both scored a pair of first half goals to fuel the 4-0 La Salle run. The Blue Devils grabbed one goal back to make it a 4-2 Explorers lead at the half.

The Explorers kicked off the second half with another 4-0 run to extend its lead to 8-2. Ilgenftiz scored a pair of goals before Fay scored the second two off assists from sophomores
Brittany Edwards and
Rachel Ceplo.

The Blue Devils grabbed four straight goals to end the game cutting the lead to 8-6 with 4:57 remaining but La Salle kept the hosts off the board for the rest of the game to preserve the win.

Lucy Loughlin made one of her four saves on the day with 2:14 remaining and La Salle was able to maintain possession to close out the game.

La Salle forced 16 CCSU turnovers on the day including seven forced turnovers. Junior
Danielle Strang led the team with a pair of caused turnovers on the day. Senior
Kerry Newby scooped up five groundballs on the day.

Allie Burnett finished with one assist on the day on Fay's second first half goal.

The Explorers return to action on Thursday when they welcome LIU Brooklyn to McCarthy Stadium for a 7 p.m. first draw as they close out their nonconference schedule.Â
