Explorers Fall 14-8 to Mason. Ilgenfritz Finishes with Six points

PHILADELPHIA- The La Salle women's lacrosse team dropped a 14-8 decision to George Mason on Friday night at McCarthy Stadium.

Junior Allee Ilgenfritz recorded four goals on the evening while senior Katelyn Fay added a hat trick of her own. Sophomore Rachel Ceplo tallied a one goal to round out the scoring on the evening.

With the three goals on the afternoon Fay now has 153 points in her career which moves her into fifth all-time in La Salle history passing Melanie Sarcinello who tallied 152 points between 2010 and 2013. Next on the list is Kristen Davis with 163 career points.

Mason started off hot going on a 4-1 run to kick off the game. The loan goal came from Ceplo off a free position goal.

The Explorers then cut the lead to just two with Ilgenfritz's first goal of the game to cut the lead to 5-2. After Mason answered, Ilgenfritz added her second of the day off a free position shot to make it 5-3.

The Patriots grabbed four straight goals to close the half and take a 9-3 lead into the break.

The teams traded goals to kick off the second half with Ilgenfritz adding her third and fourth of the evening to make the score 11-5 with 22:05 remaining. Fay then scored her first of the night at the 13:35 mark off an Ilgenfritz assist to make it 11-6.

Mason would answer but Fay responded with a goal of her own to keep the deficit at five at 12-7 with 9:54 remaining.

However, the Patriots defense held strong only allowed La Salle to score once more, a Fay free position goal, to make the final score 14-8 in favor of the visitors.

Freshman Sarah Gallagher made six saves in the cage for the Explorers. Senior Abby O'Donnell tied for a game high with four ground balls on the evening.
