AMHERST, Mass.- The La Salle women's lacrosse team fell to No. 19 Massachusetts, 19-6, on Sunday afternoon in Amherst. Sophomore
Brittany Edwards paced the Explorers with a pair of goals on just two shots.

Katelyn Fay and
Anna Kelly both added one goal as did junior
Allee Ilgenfritz while freshman
Renee Olivett scored her first career goal in the loss.

The Explorers were able to jump out to an early 3-1 lead on the Minutewomen thanks to Ilgenfritz scoring an unassisted man-up goal and a pair of goals from Edwards, one off an assist from sophomore
Nicole Black, in the first 8:25 of the contest.

The hosts would answer back going on a 9-0 run, commanding much of the rest of the half.

Fay finished off the first half scoring adding an unassisted goal with 46 seconds left to make it 10-4 heading into the half.

Kelly opened up the second half scoring with a man-up goal to cut the deficit to 10-5 with 28:51 left, but again UMass answered with a commanding 8-0 run to open up the game.

Sarah Gallagher made a pair of saves in the cage for the Explorers.

La Salle returns to action next weekend as they again hit the road to take on George Washington and Richmond. Â
