PHILADELPHIA – The La Salle baseball team led early but Penn battled back in the middle innings in a 7-3 loss to the Quakers on Tuesday afternoon at Meiklejohn Stadium.
Joey Ravert and
Drew Jarmuz each had solo homers while
Jared Melone had an RBI double for the Explorers. Jarmuz and Melone each finished with a pair of knocks as La Salle had 10 hits on the afternoon.
Ravert put La Salle in front 1-0 with a solo homer in the 2nd, and Jarmuz answered with a solo shot in the 4th after Penn tied the game at 1-1 in the 3rd against
Greg Paprocki. The righty held the Quakers to one run in four innings but didn't factor in the decision.
Penn scored four times in the 5th against La Salle reliever
Jorge Jimenez (L, 2-5) and twice more against
Jared Mattera in the 7th. Melone doubled in a run in the 9th with two outs but the Explorers couldn't close the gap any further.
The Explorers take on Big 5 rival Villanova on the road on Wednesday afternoon. The Explorers topped the Wildcats 3-1 at home last month.
