AMHERST, Mass. – The La Salle baseball team fell 8-2 in the series finale at UMass on Sunday afternoon at Earl Lorden Field.
Jared Melone and
Joey Ravert had two hits apiece, including a two-run double for Ravert, and La Salle starter
Luke Reilly limited the Minutemen to a pair of runs in five innings on the hill.
Reilly (L, 0-4) kept the Minutemen in check, yielding six hits and a walk in five innings before leaving the game with La Salle down 2-0. UMass came alive against the bullpen, scoring five runs (two earned) against
Greg Paprocki and
Jared Mattera in the 7
th.
The Minutemen added a run in the 8
th against
Billy Worswick before La Salle finally got on the board with Ravert's two-run double in the 9
th. Brandon Walsh tossed a complete-game for UMass, limiting La Salle to five hits while striking out 12.
The Explorers are at Bucknell on Tuesday in nonconference action.
