ST. BONAVENTURE, N.Y. – The La Salle baseball team rallied for a 6-4 win in a back-and-forth battle at St. Bonaventure on Friday afternoon thanks to a three-run 8
th inning.
Kevin McGowan drove in three runs on two hits, including the go-ahead run with a two-run single in the 8
th, while
Joey Ravert went 3-for-4 with two RBI.
Jared Melone went 2-for-4 with two runs scored and
Brian Tagoe also scored a pair of runs.
La Salle scored three runs in the top of the 8
th to go up by two after the Bonnies scored twice in the 7
th to take a 4-3 lead. Ravert tied the game with a single after
Yan Carlo Rivera,
Jared Melone and
Brian Tagoe all walked to load the bases.
McGowan singled up the middle with two outs to score Melone and Tagoe and put the Explorers in front for good.
CJ Pruitt (W, 2-0) got the final two outs in the 7
th and one more in the 8
th before exiting with men on first and second in favor of
Tom Fazzini (S, 9). The senior allowed an inherited runner to score but stranded the go-ahead run on third to nail down a five-out save.
Ravert started the game on the mound before moving to DH after four innings. The senior held the Bonnies scoreless through four frames, allowing just two baserunners via a pair of singles.
Melone led off the game with a triple and scored on a Ravert double to spark a 3-0 run for the Blue and Gold to start the game. McGowan had an RBI single in the 3
rd and
Ben Faso drove in a run with a single in the 5
th.
Due to forecasted rain in the area, the two teams will play a doubleheader on Saturday beginning at 12 p.m.
