Explorers Split DH with Saint Joseph’s

PHILADELPIA – The La Salle baseball team split a doubleheader with Saint Joseph's on Saturday afternoon at Hank DeVincent Field, edging the Hawks 3-2 in the nightcap after falling 10-2 in the opener.

Joey Ravert hit a two-run homer in the 6th inning of game two to give La Salle a 3-2 lead before CJ Pruitt and Jorge Jimenez combined for three scoreless innings as the Explorers earned the split. Jared Melone had four hits and scored a run on the afternoon.

GAME ONE
La Salle starter Jordan Meyer (L, 2-6) tossed three scoreless innings before running into trouble in the 4th. The Hawks got four runs in that inning and eventually knocked Meyer out of the game in the 6th as they rushed out to a 6-0 lead by the 7th.

Ben Faso cut into the lead in the home half of the 7th with a two-run double but SJU responded with four runs in the 8th to put the game out of reach.

Lucas Rollins (W, 3-4) was steady for the visitors, striking out five over eight innings while scattering six hits and not issuing a free pass.

GAME TWO
Ravert drilled a two-run go-ahead homer in the 6th inning to put the Explorers in front for good. Pruitt tossed 2.2 scoreless innings before Jimenez (S, 1) recorded the final out with the tying run on third base.
