PHILADELPIA – The La Salle baseball team split a doubleheader with Saint Joseph's on Saturday afternoon at Hank DeVincent Field, edging the Hawks 3-2 in the nightcap after falling 10-2 in the opener.
Joey Ravert hit a two-run homer in the 6
th inning of game two to give La Salle a 3-2 lead before
CJ Pruitt and
Jorge Jimenez combined for three scoreless innings as the Explorers earned the split.
Jared Melone had four hits and scored a run on the afternoon.
GAME ONE
La Salle starter
Jordan Meyer (L, 2-6) tossed three scoreless innings before running into trouble in the 4
th. The Hawks got four runs in that inning and eventually knocked Meyer out of the game in the 6
th as they rushed out to a 6-0 lead by the 7
th.
Ben Faso cut into the lead in the home half of the 7
th with a two-run double but SJU responded with four runs in the 8
th to put the game out of reach.
Lucas Rollins (W, 3-4) was steady for the visitors, striking out five over eight innings while scattering six hits and not issuing a free pass.
GAME TWO
Ravert drilled a two-run go-ahead homer in the 6
th inning to put the Explorers in front for good. Pruitt tossed 2.2 scoreless innings before Jimenez (S, 1) recorded the final out with the tying run on third base.
Luke Reilly (W, 1-4) picked up his first win of the season with six strong innings, limiting the Hawks to a pair of runs on four hits and two walks. The southpaw tied a season-high with seven strikeouts.
After SJU took a 2-0 lead in the 5
th on a Charlie Coghlin double, the Explorers got a run back in the home half with a
Brett Simon RBI double.
Drew Jarmuz singled up the middle with one out and stole second to put himself into scoring position for Simon.

Tim Brennan (L, 6-1) his first loss of the season, tagging the righty for three earned runs over 6.1 innings.
