PHILADELPIA – The La Salle baseball team stumbled in 14-2 loss to the Saint Joseph's Hawks in the series finale on Sunday afternoon at Hank DeVincent Field.
Brett Simon drove in both runs for La Salle while
Jared Melone and
Ben Faso both had a pair of base hits for the Explorers.
Charlie Coghlin got things going for the Hawks in the 1st with a three-run homer off
Tom Fazzini (L, 0-5), who was charged with six runs in two-plus innings before turning the ball over to the bullpen.
Brett Simon cut the SJU lead to 3-1 with an RBI fielder's choice in the 2
nd but the Hawks put together a five-run 3
rd inning to take an 8-1 lead.
Simon added another RBI in the 4
th with a single up the middle to score
Connor Hinchliffe, but the Hawks answered in the 6
th with three runs to again steal the momentum.
The Explorers return to action on Friday as they visit the George Mason Patriots for a three-game series.
