PHILADELPHIA - La Salle graduate student
Tonny Aizpun has been named to the Philadelphia Inquirer Academic All-Area Golf team, it was announced today. Aizpun recently graduated with his MBA at La Salle with a 3.80 grade point average and is the only Explorer to ever finish top 10 at A-10s in two years.
This past season, he tied for seventh at the Atlantic 10 Championship (72-77-74=223, +7) after tying for third in 2015 (68-71-71=210, -6) to earn all-conference honors. He posted the second best stroke average on the team in 2015-16 (75.3) after averaging 76.0 strokes/round in 2014-15.
His 68 at A-10s is tied for the second lowest round in school history and his 210 at A-10s is the second lowest 54 hole total in the record book. He is one of two players to earn All-Atlantic 10 recognition in golf at La Salle.
Aizpun began his career at Mount St. Mary's, where he earned all-conference honors before the school dropped the program.
He is joined on the Academic All-Area team by Neumann's Brendan Gagne, Temple's Mark Farley, Drexel's Yoseph Dance and Villanova's Luke Waggoner.Â
