SAN SALVADOR, EL SALVADOR - La Salle junior
Chris Sanders completed an amazing last three months by winning the silver medal in the 800m at the NACAC U23 Championships in El Salvidor on Saturday. He finished second in a time of 1:47.77.
Sanders was edged out by Penn State's Isaiah Harris, who finished with a time of 1:47.52.
The NACAC is organized by the North America, Central America and Caribbean Athletics Association.

Sanders had a remarkable spring and early summer, which was highlighted by finishing sixth in the 800m at the NCAA Championship. He became the fifth Explorer to earn First Team All-America honors and the first in the 800m.

He set and broke his own school record several times in the past two months, most recently in the NCAA Semifinal by running a time of 1:46.52.

Earlier this month, Sanders competed in the U.S. Olympic Trials in the 800m at Hayward Field at the University of Oregon.

Sanders has won three straight Atlantic 10 outdoor championships in the 800m and helped the Explorers to three straight 4x800 relay victories at A-10s.

The NACAC U23 Championship was first held in 2000 and it features 26 nations and more than 300 athletes.Â
