PHILADELPHIA –
Deja Davis scored the game-winning goal in the 89
th minute to lift the La Salle women's soccer team to a 3-2 win over Drexel on Thursday night at Vidas Field.
Davis headed a
Kristin Haugstad pass into the back of the net with 1:36 left in regulation to give La Salle its first lead of the game. Haugstad also assisted
Maci Bower's game-tying goal on a corner kick in the 68
th minute.
Madison Dunn had given the Dragons a 2-1 lead with a goal in the 60
th minute after the game went into halftime tied at 1-1. After Drexel took a 1-0 lead midway through the opening half,
Katherine Hennessey tallied her first career goal in the 45
th minute to tie the game.
The Explorers outshot Drexel 14-11 on the night, including 8-4 in the second half. La Salle put nine shots on target against Christiana Ogunsami while
Larisa Zambelli made four saves for the Explorers.
The Explorers welcome Big 5 rival Temple to McCarthy Stadium on Sunday for their 2016 home opener. Kickoff is set for 1 p.m.
