PHILADELPHIA –
Marykate Bateman scored the game's only goal in the 7
th minute and
Larisa Zambelli tallied a shutout in the net as the La Salle women's soccer team defeated Temple 1-0 in Big 5 soccer action on Sunday at McCarthy Stadium.
Bateman fielded the rebound of a
Kristin Haugstad shot and quickly punched it past Temple keeper Jordan Nash just 6:05 into the game. The goal was the first of the season for Bateman while it was the second assist on the year for Haugstad.
Zambelli recorded her first shutout of 2016 thanks to a season-high eight saves. The Explorers, meanwhile, put seven shots on goal against Nash.
Both teams rattled off 13 shots on the afternoon while the Explorers held a 5-3 advantage in corner kicks.
The Explorers are back in action on Friday evening as they host Northeastern at McCarthy Stadium at 5 p.m.
