PHILADELPHIA- The La Salle volleyball team will head to St. John's this weekend to compete in the Jack Kaiser Invitational in Queens, N.Y. Explorers head coach
Caitlin Schweihofer will return to her alma mater, St.John's, where she was a four-year member of the volleyball team, Big East Scholar-Athlete of the Year and led the team to an undefeated season in 2006.
The Explorers will open play against Binghamton at 4:00 pm on Friday. They will then face St. John's at 12:00 pm on Saturday, followed up by Niagara at 4:00 pm. Â
Scouting the Explorers…
-The Explorers are 5-0 on the season and have lost just one set to Saint Francis during the La Salle Invitational. It is the best start in program history and they are the only 5-0 team in the nation.
-
Bryanna Davis and
Devin Corah posted eight kills apiece against Lafayette on Tuesday, to help the Explorers win the match 3-0. Senior
Ashley Felton recorded six kills for the Explorers.
-Atlantic 10 Co-Defensive Player of the Week
Jensen Sharrits posted 16 digs and six assists against the Leopards.

Kathryn Wood, freshman setter, recorded 23 assists against Lafayette, bringing her total to 171 on the season.
-Corah leads the team with 58 kills and 12 service aces, while Wood has posted 171 assists on the season. Sharrits has posted 94 digs to lead the team defensively, while
Ashley Felton ranks first on the team with seven blocks.

-Binghamton dropped its opening three matches at the Charleston Invitational against UT Martin, South Carolina and the College of Charleston.
-Junior Sarah recorded 87 assists, 23 digs and four aces over the course of the three games for the Bearcats.
-Freshman Lauren Kornmann recorded right kills and five service aces in the match against UT Martin.
-Head coach Glen Kiriyama is in his 18
th season as head coach, the sole volleyball coach in program history. The Bearcats went 9-19 last season.

-St. John's is coming off a strong start to this season, after sweeping the Bryant Hampton Inn-vitational, posting wins over Rutgers and Bryant. The Red Storm best Iona on Tuesday in a 3-0 contest.
-Freshman setter Ercia Di Maulo posted a double-double with 29 assists and 13 digs in the match against Iona.
-Junior Julia Cast recorded 14 kills and 3 digs over Iona, while sophomore Margherita Bianchin posted eight kills for the Red Storm.
-St. John's will open the Jack Kaiser Invitational play against Niagara on Friday. The Red Storm went 18-15 for the 2015 season.

-Niagara posted its first win of the season over Cal State Fullerton 3-1, after dropping its first two matches at the Loyola Marymount University Invitational .
-Junior Madison May recorded 16 kills and seven digs over Cal State Fullerton, while Rylee Hunt posted 19 digs and eight assists.
-Niagara recorded 11 aces in the win over Cal State, with freshman Caroline Leitch contributing four aces.
-Head coach Vilis Ozols is in his third season at the helm for the Purple Eagles. Under Ozols, the Purple Eagles recorded a 13-17 season last year.

The Explorers will take on Quinnipiac next Friday at 5:00 pm at the Providence Invitational in Rhode Island.
