PHILADELPHIA – The La Salle women's soccer team dropped a 2-0 match to the defending national champion Penn State Nittany Lions on Sunday afternoon at Jeffrey Field.
Frannie Crouse found the back of the net for Penn State in the 19
th minute, giving the Nittany Lions a 1-0 edge from eight yards out on an assist from Brittany Basinger.
Grace Fisk made it 2-0 in the 41
st minute on a corner kick thanks to assists from Kristin Schnurr and Alina Ortega-Jurado. Penn State took 10 corner kicks on the afternoon.
La Salle had eight shots in the game, including two on target against PSU keeper Amanda Dennis.
The Explorers return to McCarthy Stadium on Thursday as they host their final nonconference match of the season.
