Women’s Soccer Gears Up for Final Two Nonconference Games

PHILADELPHILA – La Salle hosts Big 5 rival Villanova on Thursday and will travel to St. John's on Sunday as they complete the nonconference portion of the 2016 schedule.
 
Scouting the Explorers
-La Salle is coming off a 2-0 loss at No. 12/16 at Penn State on Sunday afternoon.
 
-Senior Deja Davis leads the team in points with six, and is tied with Maci Bower for a team-best two goals. Kristin Haugstad leads the Explorers with three assists.
 
-La Salle and Villanova haven't met since 2013, when the Explorers took a 1-0 victory at the VU Soccer Complex.
 
-The Explorers don't play for nearly two weeks following the St. John's game. They open A-10 play at home against Massachusetts on September 29.

-Villanova enters this weekend following a 3-2 loss to Saint Joseph's in double overtime last Friday and a 2-0 setback to Lehigh on Sunday.
 
-Freshman Ida DiClemente leads the team with seven points via three goals and one assist while Kristin Barbour is second in points (three) thanks to a goal and an assist.
 
- Emmalee Meyer and Emily has been the primary keeper for Villanova this season, starting six of seven games. The senior has a 2.47 goals-against average and 32 saves.
 
-The Wildcats have been outscored 18-5 on the year.

-St. John's garnered its first national recognition of the season, earning five votes in Tuesday's NSCAA Coaches Poll.
 
-The Red Storm are coming off an 0-1-1 weekend in the Nike Portland Invitational, playing the Washington Huskies to a 0-0 draw in the opening game before falling to Portland 2-1.
 
-The Johnnies rank 20th in the NCAA with a goals against average of 0.46. Two-time reigning BIG EAST Goalkeeper of the Year Diana Poulin carries a GAA of just 0.35, good enough for 16th in the nation, while her five shutouts are just one off the national lead in that category.
 
-Last season, the Red Storm rose as high as No. 22 in the NSCAA Coaches Poll and No. 15 in the Soccer America rankings en route to the school's first-ever BIG EAST Regular Season Championship.
