PHILADELPHIA -- The La Salle men's soccer team came up short against Rider on Friday night at McCarthy Stadium. The Explorers, who had started the season undefeated, went scoreless for the first time this year and ultimately lost 3-0.
The team registered seven shots, including three on goal.
Johnny Ciarlante, who found the back of the net in La Salle's 2-1 win over Rider last season, nearly scored late in the first half.
Joe Hansen and
Hayden Criollo also put the ball on goal.
The Explorers came out of the break with more enthusiasm and registered five shots in the second half compared to two in the first, but couldn't slip one past the keeper.
In goal,
Mike Kirk made three saves, all coming in the second half.Â
