Men's Water Polo | September 25, 2016
Salem, W. Va. - The La Salle Men's Water Polo team dropped its final two games at the Mid-Atlantic Water Polo Conference Weekend at Salem International University on Sunday. Despite the losses on Day Two, the Explorers will bring home their first MAWPC win, an 11-10 defeat of Monmouth College from Saturday.
La Salle was downed by the host, Salem International University, by a score of 24-13 in a very phyiscal game that included 26 total ejections between the two teams.
Jeff Brady led the offense with seven goals for the Blue and Gold.
Alex Pitcher scored three goals and had one steal.
Joey DeFusco, the team's leading scorer on Saturday, added two while Keagan Reilly had one.
"The game resembled a UFC battle," Assistant Coach
Andre Nyce said after the game. "There were a lot of players ejected for over-physical play. We battled very hard."
The Explorers were defeated later in the day by Mercyhurst, 22-9.
Jacob Camacho,
Joel Gibson, and Pitcher led the offense with two goals apiece. DeFusco, Brady, and
Johann Orozco each had one score.
La Salle will hit the pool again this Saturday when it hosts Penn State in its second home game of the season. The game is set to begin at 9:30 AM at Kirk Pool.
