Women’s Soccer Opens A-10 Play with Massachusetts at Home, Davidson on the Road

PHILADELPHIA – The La Salle women's soccer team opens A-10 play on Thursday night when they host Massachusetts at McCarthy Stadium at 7 p.m. The Explorers will also visit Davidson on Sunday to close the week.
 
Scouting the Explorers
-La Salle hasn't played since a 1-0 loss at St. John's on September 18.
 
-Eight different Explorers have scored goals this season, paced by Deja Davis and Maci Bower (two goals). Davis also has a pair of assists and leads the team with six points.
 
-Larisa Zambelli has started all eight games for La Salle, and has 43 saves and a shutout on the season.
 
-The Explorers topped Davidson 1-0 at home in the opening weekend of A-10 play last season.

Scouting the Minutewomen

-Massachusetts hasn't played since a 3-0 loss at Providence on September 18, and is looking for its first win since a 1-0 defeat of Maine (9/3).
 
-Gabriela Kenyon leads UMass with two goals scored while Rebeca Frisk and Megan Burke scored the Minutewomen's other goals.
 
-Opponents are outscoring the Minutewomen 13-4.
 
-In the NCAA RPI released last week, UMass ranked 105th nationally placing them fifth among Atlantic 10 teams and among the top third nationally.

Scouting the Wildcats

-Davidson finished its non-conference schedule with a 4-5 record after losing its last two games. The Wildcats haven't played since a 2-0 loss at Elon on Sept. 15.
 
-Freshman Seeley Yoo paces Davidson's offense with seven points (three goals, one assist) while fellow freshman Virginia Jesselson has six points on two goals and two assists.
 
-Freshmen have accounted for seven of the 15 goals Davidson has scored this year.
 
-2016 will be the fourth straight season the 'Cats play their conference opener on the road.
