ANNAPOLIS, Md. -- The La Salle men's water polo team made a splash today at the Navy Open, winning its first game in program history with a 16-9 defeat of Caltech. The game was part of a four-game swing over the weekend to open the season. The Explorers were also defeated by the host, Navy, before the day ended.
Jeff Brady, who scored five total goals on Saturday, finished with an astounding eight scores in the win, upping his season total to 13.
Joey DeFusco and
Alex Pitcher had three goals each while
Jacob Camacho tacked on two of his own.
In goal,
Owain Llewellyn made 11 saves while
Jacob Klingsberg stopped four shots as a reserve.
Head coach
Paul Macht and his team will let the win soak in for the next week and return to action on Monday, September 12th at 6:45 PM when they host Villanova in their home opener at Kirk Pool. A live stream of that game will be available through GoExplorers.TV.
