PHILADELPHIA - Harvard's Destiny Nunley hit the game-winning shot with 1.4 seconds left to lift the Crimson to a 66-64 win over La Salle despite a career-high 27 points from
Adreana Miller on Wednesday night at Tom Gola Arena.
Miller had hit two free throws to tie the game at 64-64 with 35.5 seconds remaining after a seesaw 4th quarter. Harvard's initial attempt at the game-winner with just over five seconds left was off the mark but the Crimson were able to secure a loose ball rebound to set up Nunley.
The Explorers then called a timeout to advance the ball but
Amy Griffin's heavily contested jumper missed as the final buzzer sounded. Griffin finished with 18 points, a game-high seven assists and five rebounds.
Miller finished 10-for-18 from the floor and a perfect 3-for-3 from the foul line.
Jasmine Alston had a team-high 10 rebounds to pair with eight points and four assists.
The Explorers got out to a strong start and took a 32-22 lead into the half before Harvard went on a run in the 3rd quarter to send the game into the 4th quarter tied at 50-50.
Nunley finished with a team-high 19 points for the visitors while Madeline Raster added 12 and Jeannie Boehm had 10.
The Explorers wrap up a four-game home stand on Saturday afternoon when they host crosstown rival Saint Joseph's at 1 PM.
