Men's Swimming and Diving | January 28, 2017
PHILADELPHIA - The La Salle Men's Swimming team wrapped up their regular season home schedule with a win on Saturday and Kirk Pool. The Explorers defeated Rowan 124-76 for their second win in as many days. La Salle will look towards the upcoming Atlantic 10 Championships with their heads held high after two commanding performances this weekend.
"This was a very important weekend for us," said Head Coach
Jamie Platt. "With only one competition left before A-10 championships, we needed to make the most out of our back-to-back meets. I am excited with how the team responded and I look forward to continuing on our path to A-10's."
The 200 medley relay team picked up its second win of the weekend when it started the meet with a win for La Salle.
Cameron Fadley,
Dimitrije Mladenovic,
Jakub Bartosiewicz, and Sam Odtallah clocked in at 1:34.19 for the win.
Aleksandar Nikolic secured La Salle's second win of the meet when he touched the wall in 1:43.43 in the 200 free. Later in the day, he finished the 100 free in 48.04 for another win.
In the 200 IM,
Fabian Bergman took first when he finished the race in 1:53.58. Bergman was named the Atlantic 10 Co-Performer of the Week just a week ago. Teammate
Marcus Forsgren finished second in the 200 IM. Bergman later took first in the 100 back (50.05 seconds).
Bartosiewicz took first in the 100 fly, clocking in at 50.29 seconds. Fadley was second.
In the 500 free,
Mattias Glenesk picked up another win when he finished in 4:38.45. His time was over six seconds ahead of the rest of the pack. Teammates
Kyle McElwee and
Robby Ambrose rounded out the top three.
Bartosiewicz, Nikolic, McElwee, and Bergman ended the day with a win in the 400 free relay, combining for a final time of 3:10.95.
The Men's team will be in action just once more before the Atlantic 10 Championships when it goes to the Villanova Sprint Fest on Saturday, February 4th at noon.
