Nick Gruber posted a one-under par round of 70 and the La Salle University men's golf team shot a season-low 294 over the second 18 holes of the Phoenix Invitational on Monday. The Explorers played 36 on the day and finished at 594, with the third and final round scheduled for Tuesday.
Gruber recorded three birdies and just two bogeys on his second round, shot 74 over his first 18 holes and is tied for 29th individually. Freshman
Ron Fischang also had a solid showing on Monday, posting consecutive rounds of 73 that included five birdies and an eagle during his second round on the par-5 17th hole.
Freshman
David Kim registered rounds of 75 and 76, tying for the team lead (Gruber) with six birdies over 36 holes. Junior
Nick Geiman went 78-75 while senior
Brandon Raihl rounded out the La Salle contingent and sits at 160.
Elon leads the team competition at 10-under par, nine strokes in front of Radford and High Point. Adrian Castagnola of George Washington is atop the player leaderboard at seven-under par.
