APALACHIN, N.Y. - The La Salle University men's golf team concluded play at the Matthews Auto Invitational, hosted by Binghamton University, on Monday afternoon. The Explorers finished in a tie for 14th place as a team with LIU Brooklyn, with freshmen
Ron Fischang and
David Kim leading the way individually.
Fischang posted his second straight round of 76 to finish in a tie for 32nd with Kim, who shot 78 on day two. Senior
Brandon Raihl was the most improved Explorer from day one to day two, taking eight strokes off his scorecard to close with a five-over par 77. Junior
Nick Gruber concluded his tournament in a tie for 69th (79-82=161), while freshman
Zaffar Sikkander was the final member of the team to compete.
Lehigh and St. Bonaventure finished tied for the team championship at 586, with the Bonnies earning the tiebreaker victory. Monmouth's Nikolas Maff was awarded medalist honors by virtue of a tiebreaker over Saint Joseph's golfer Ross Pilliod.Â
La Salle continues the fall season on Oct. 7-8 at the Bucknell Invitational.
