PHILADELPHIA - The La Salle University men's rowing team had four crews compete at the Head of the Schuylkill over the weekend. The men's college novice eight led the way, earning a bronze medal in a race the featured 24 other boats in the race.
The group of eight oarsmen featured freshman
Kris Perry in the stroke seat and also featured freshmen
Anthony Merendino,
Jeffrey Leonetti,
Noah Kagel,
Mike Fitzpatrick,
Richard Lewis,
Shane Glover and
Dejuan Hill.
Directed by coxswain Jennah Syed, the Explorers crossed the finish line in third place at 14:19.2, ahead of groups from Temple, Virginia, Princeton and Pitt.
Two different boats took part in the club championship eight rade, with the A boat closing in 22nd place and the B boat in 28th position. The fourth and final crew to race was the championship eight, who finished 10th.
La Salle will row in a pair of competitions next weekend: the Head of the Occoquan Regatta in Fairfax Station Va., and a tri-meet against Penn State and Bucknell.
