Madison Bower had two goals and an assist on Sunday at Massachusetts as the La Salle women's soccer team (11-3-1, 6-0 A-10) defeated the Minutewomen (6-6-2, 3-2-1) 6-2 for their sixth straight win.
Bower's two goals moved her total for the season to a conference-leading eight goals.
Chloe Lewis and Maci Bower both had a goal and an assist on the afternoon.
Lewis got the Explorers on the board in the 12
th minute, using an assist from
Maci Bower to score from 15 yards out on the right flank.
Kristin Haugstad sent a cross to
Madison Bower for her first goal in the 28
th minute, which the redshirt junior put inside the near post.
Rebecca Frisk scored for UMass just 14 seconds later to cut La Salle's lead to one goal before Maci Bower made it 3-1 in the 34
th minute on an assist from Madi Bower.
Paige McDowell continued the scoring barrage for the Explorers in the second half, finding the back of the net for the first time this season (52') on a free kick from 47 yards out.
Madison Bower used assists from
Chloe Lewis and
Danielle Marx to score at the 57:20 mark.
UMass scored again in the 87
th minute but
Marcela Robinson answered less than two minutes later, heading in an
Emily Wilkinson corner kick with 1:59 to play.
La Salle has two more Atlantic 10 games this week as they visit St. Bonaventure on Thursday night before hosting Fordham on Sunday.
