RICHMOND, Va.- The La Salle volleyball team fell to a fierce VCU squad in a 3-0 match on Sunday, October 8. The Rams controlled the match to race by the Explorers in set scores of (25-15, 25-17, 25-19).
As the Rams grabbed an early lead in each set, La Salle's attack struggled against VCU's nine total blocks.
Madison Kuch and
Bryanna Davis tallied six kills apiece in the match, while senior
Rachel Carr added five.
Kathryn Wood guided La Salle's efforts with 20 assists, while
Maya Barton provided one. VCU proved unstoppable in the team's 16
th straight win, as they did give up a single service ace during the match.
Barton,
Reilly Lowe and Kuch contributed two blocks each for the Blue and Gold, to total four on the day.
Jensen Sharrits and
Jennifer Edwards contributed seven digs apiece, while freshman
Alyssa Cianciulli added six.
With the loss, the Explorers fall to 10-11 overall and 1-5 in conference play. The team will return to the court when they host a pair of A-10 matchups next weekend. They face Fordham first, taking on the Rams at 7:00 p.m. on Oct.13 before clashing with Rhode Island at 1:00 p.m. on Sunday.
