RICHMOND, Va. – The top-seeded La Salle women's soccer team will play the No. 6 VCU Rams on Sunday at noon in the Atlantic 10 Championship Final at Sports Backers Stadium. The winner will also earn the conference's automatic bid to the NCAA Tournament.
Scouting the Explorers
-La Salle is playing in the fourth A-10 Championship game in program history after defeating Duquesne Friday afternoon in dramatic fashion.
-
Madison Bower scored the golden goal in the 97th minute to drop the Dukes after
Katherine Hennessey tied the game at 1-1 with just 1:08 to play in regulation.
-The Explorers are in the hunt for their third A-10 Championship title, and first since beating Dayton on penalty kicks in 2013.
-La Salle defeated VCU 1-0 in their regular season meeting in Philadelphia on October 22.
Danielle Marx scored the game-winner in the 54
th minute on assists from
Kristin Haugstad and
Amirah Louketis, and the Explorers pitched their 12
th shutout of the season.

Scouting the Rams
-Megan Dell converted a penalty kick in the second half of the A-10 Championship semifinal to lift the VCU women's soccer team to 1-0 victory over the Saint Joseph's Hawks on Friday evening.
-The Rams are playing in the Atlantic 10 title game for the second time since joining the conference prior to the 2012 season.
-VCU's only other A-10 Championship appearance came in their first season in the league in 2012, where they lost 2-1 to La Salle in overtime.
-Dell's goal was her fifth of the season, a new career-high for the senior. The Chapel Hill, N.C. native was named to the A-10 All-Academic team on Wednesday.
