STATEN ISLAND, N.Y.- The La Salle track and field teams traveled to the Ocean Breeze Athletic Complex on Staten Island, N.Y. on Friday to race against 34 other schools, including A-10 rivals Fordham and St.Joseph's. Four runners represented the university and competed in three different events for the Blue and Gold.
Sophomore
Morgan Szekely competed in the women's 800m event, crossing the line with a time of 2:12.29 to land 16
th in the field of 61 runners.
Freshman
Anthony Hawthorne posted a new career best when he clocked a time of 1:55.22 in the men's 800m race. Hawthorne placed 18
th overall in the highly competitive field of 64.
A duo of Explorers competed in the men's 3000m to wrap up the day. Junior
Fran Ferruzzi led the pair with a 19
th place finish thanks to a career best of 8:26.02.
Running a time of 8:27.26, senior
Bradley Heuer finished 21
st overall, topping 35 other runners in the event.
The Explorers will return to the track next weekend, when the teams travel to Fairfax, Va to compete in the Atlantic 10 Indoor Championship on Feb. 17.
