GREENVILLE, N.C. - The La Salle Baseball Team (0-6) was defeated by (RV) East Carolina University (3-3) for the second time in as many days on Saturday, 8-4.
The Explorers trailed early but were able to chip away at the Pirates' lead in the mid-innings. La Salle's offense did most of its damage in the sixth inning, scoring three runs on a three-run blast by
Yan Carlo Rivera to score
Brian Tagoe and
Brett Simon. For Rivera, it was his second career round tripper.
In the ninth inning, La Salle scored again when
Ben Faso drove in
Ryan Guckin after he led off the inning with a walk and
Chase Arnold advanced him to third on a double. Guckin, a freshman, has reached base safely in all four games he's played in this season.
Starting pitcher
C.J. Pruitt struck out two batters over four innings. In relief, freshman righty
Blake James threw 1.2 scoreless innings.
Head Coach
Mike Lake and the Explorers will be back in action tomorrow as they wrap up their three game series with East Carolina at 1:00 PM.
