DOVER, Del. - The La Salle baseball team (2-15) fell to Delaware State on the road Tuesday afternoon, 4-2.
The Explorers were out to a 2-0 lead, scoring a run in the second and then doubling their lead in the fifth. The first run came off the bat of freshman outfielder
Zach Wright who smacked his first home run of the season. The next run came when
Kevin McGowan tripled to score
Yan Carlo Rivera.
Starting pitcher
Matt Holt threw four shutout innings before exiting the game. He struck out six batters and allowed no hits or walks.
Jorge Jimenez was also impressive on the mound, throwing two innings and striking out three.
La Salle begins its Atlantic 10 schedule this weekend, taking on VCU in Richmond in a three-game series beginning Friday at 3:00 PM.
