RICHMOND, Va. - The La Salle baseball team (2-16, 0-1 A-10) went down to VCU (12-10, 1-0 A-10) on Friday in the first conference game of the season. The Explorers scored a run in the sixth but had no answer for the Rams' hot offense that scored eight runs.
La Salle's run came when
Kevin McGowan drove in
Yan Carlo Rivera across the plate after he reached on a hit by pitch and stole a bag.
The Explorers' two through four hitters combined for the team's seven hits. Sophomore
Ben Faso was 3-for-4 while McGowan and
Austin Constantini were each 2-for-4.
Starting pitcher
Luke Reilly pitched seven strong innings, allowing just three earned runs while striking out four.
The Explorers will rematch the Rams on Saturday at 2:00 PM.
